Zhang Yunming, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said on the 17th that it is necessary to strengthen the key core technology research, deepen the integrated innovation and scale application of the 5G+Industrial Internet", create a digital industrial cluster with international competitiveness so as to lead and support the intelligent, green and integrated development of the manufacturing industry and expand high-quality development space.

Zhang Yunming made the above statement at the 2023 World Telecommunication and Information Society Day conference held in Hefei, Anhui. He stated that we need to promote the modernization of the infrastructure system, accelerate the construction of high-speed ubiquitous, space-ground integration, cloud and network integration, intelligent and agile, green and low-carbon, safe and controllable intelligent comprehensive digital information infrastructure, and consolidate the cornerstone of high-quality development.

According to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, as of March this year, the total number of 5G base stations in China reached 2.646 million, accounting for 24.3% of the total number of mobile base stations. 5G applications have covered 52 major categories of the national economy, and the mobile Internet of Things has achieved large-scale applications in fields such as digital city construction, smart transportation, and mobile payment. At present, the scale of Industrial Internet core industry has exceeded 1.2 trillion Chinese yuan, up 15.5% over the previous year.

Focusing on consolidating the foundation of the digital economy and assisting traditional enterprises in transformation and upgrading, basic telecommunications companies are also actively deploying and promoting digital technology to further serve social and economic development.

On the 17th, China Telecom released a new computing power package and cloud terminal services. Data shows that in recent years, China's telecommunications investment has grown by 7% annually, and the investment structure has continued to tilt towards the digital economy. Investment in digital industries such as Tianyi Cloud, AI, security, and digital platforms has grown by 40% annually. At present, China Telecom has built over 6,000 customized 5G network projects and nearly 20,000 commercial projects in the 5G industry.

Shao Guanglu, General Manager of China Telecom, stated that computing power services will be prioritized as an important productivity in promoting the digital economy, and the upgrading of capabilities such as cloud computing, advanced networks, big data, artificial intelligence, and network information security will be continuously promoted.

We need to provide a user-friendly cloud, enhance high-quality supply of information service applications, and comprehensively empower the digital and intelligent transformation of the economy and society. Dong Xin, the general manager of China Mobile, said that China Mobile will strive to support the acceleration of digital production, promote the 5G application Sailing action plan, and promote dramatically industry applications such as smart factories, smart mines, smart transportation, smart education, and smart healthcare, to help traditional enterprises transform and upgrade.

According to Chen Zhongyue, General Manager of China Unicom, China Unicom is committed to creating an innovation engine to promote the deep integration of the digital economy and the real economy. Currently, it has implemented over 1,400 smart city projects and created nearly 20,000 5G large-scale application projects.
